The mechanical dusky

Named after the town of New Zealand where I first encountered dusky dolphins. This Maori name means “to eat crayfish”.

This sculpture was the prize of a raffle. All proceeds were donated to Sea Shepherd to help them protect our oceans.

This sculpture was first made out of a polymer clay then moulded with silicone and finally casted in ceramic plaster.

A galaxy under the sea

In the astronomical traditions of Torres Strait Islanders, Baidam is a shark. The shark constellation consists of seven stars. The stars of Baidam were used for navigation and provided knowledge about the seasons.
